RB2000 Tonearm The RB2000 tonearm is packed with new features pushing the boundaries of tonearm design. As with all Rega tonearms, each one is meticulously hand built by a team of highly skilled technicians. The RB2000 uses improved bearings with each one being hand selected to be an interference fit with the paired spindle matching both the inside and outside diameters. This is a Rega developed method of increasing the amount of detail retrieved from the record surface, designed specifically to maximise performance of the tonearm and cartridge. The entire tonearm structure is designed to have the minimum of mechanical joints whilst using the stiffest materials in all critical areas. The tolerance of the RB2000 tonearm is so tight that no adhesive is used at any point throughout the construction. A brand new, low mass, precision engineered, vertical bearing assembly has been manufactured to further complement the inherent design philosophy of the RP10 turntable. The RB2000 uses the latest award winning Rega arm tube. Each one which is meticulously hand polished (keeping mass to an absolute minimum) and has been completely redesigned to redistribute mass and further reduce stresses and resonances. This advanced design tube increases the stiffness and rigidity of the overall assembly whilst reducing stress on the bearings even further.

Brio-R Amplifier The award winning
Brio-R embodies all the necessary ingredients to become a hi-fi classic. Housed
in our custom half width case, you will find a 73w per channel into a 4 ohms
integrated amplifier with a high spec built in phono stage. A unique circuit is
built around a substantial toroidal transformer, generous power supply
components, a rugged output stage, with the use of film capacitors in the signal
path and at all critical positions within the phono amplifier. The performance
speaks for itself; control, balance and detail make this amplifier a must on the
demo list. New Output Amplifier Developed by our engineers, a newly designed
output amplifier using a low source impedance emitter follower, Class A driver
stage. Based around a complementary pair of 150w Sanken Darlington output
transistors, this combination forms a complementary emitter follower emulating
Class A conditions with good thermal stability and lower standing currents in
the driver stage. High Quality Components The Brio-R utilises the highest
quality components and our engineers' experience to achieve the best sonic
performance. Ensuring it is the most advanced and feature packed Brio to date.
Improved Power Supplies During the Brio-R design process, Rega reviewed the
circuit and improved the low and high current power supplies, coupling and
bypass capacitors. The phono stage has been improved to reflect the current
improvements in the Rega Planar turntables, where the input sensitivity has been
increased along with a revision of the sub 100Hz part of the phono frequency
response. Custom Case & Design Housed in a brand new custom case, the Brio-R
draws on the pedigree of the previous three incarnations of this model. The
sonic recipe for the Brio-R embodies the best in traditional audio circuits with
excellent engineering practice. Remote Control Remote control has been added to
the Brio-R without compromising the sonic design of the amplifier. This was
achieved by keeping the remote circuit separate to the audio circuit and having
its own dedicated power supply. There is no direct contact between the
micro-controller and the signal path; the micro-controller controls the relays

Elex-R The Elex-R is a sublime blend of the
Brio-R design with the power circuits and advanced phono stage of the Elicit-R.
Rega’s engineers have achieved the perfect balance of power, control and
dynamics, delivering a Design Innovation The Elex-R is built to the highest
standard and designed to deliver the best possible audio performance whilst
remaining simple to use and easy to setup. The Elex-R is built into the full
width Rega case with increased heat dissipation, which along with a larger
transformer enables the Elex-R to deliver 90 Watts per channel into 6Ω and 72.5
Watts per channel into a design centre rating of 8. Our time, effort & money
have been spent on developing the circuit and construction utilizing the highest
specification of components throughout. As part of the design we have included
useful features like pre-amplifier output, to enable the new Elex-R amplifier to
be used in a wide combination of systems and have avoided superfluous gadgets
such as tone controls or a headphone socket as they can obstruct the signal path
and degrade the produced sound quality. The Elex-R has been built to Rega’s
extremely high standards of reliability and quality to ensure many years of
musical enjoyment. The primary function of an amplifier is to boost and equalize
the low level signal generated by a phono cartridge, DAC and CD player or other
source component to a level that can drive the loudspeakers. It is vital that
the amplifier achieves this whilst minimising distortion, as this would directly
affect the music. The distortion level is typically 0.007%; just under the
clipping of the output. The volume control and pre-amplifier used in the Elex-R
is designed to overcome the problems associated with the standard arrangement.
This design uses a custom chip along with peripheral support IC’s like a
microcontroller and a custom made rotary volume control. The Elex-R uses a
combined feedback and passive volume control, where the feedback and input
levels are varied to set the required volume level. The level and tracking
between the two channels is set by the close tolerance parts in the
pre-amplifier circuit and less by the actual potentiometer itself, thus keeping
the mismatch of channels due to volume control tracking irregularities to a
minimum. As well as keeping tracking irregularities to a minimum, this method
also reduces noise and input overload as the control will only ‘use’ the
required gain to amplify the signal. This form of volume control is normally only
found in professional broadcast environments where accurate low noise control of
levels is required. Power Amplifier Technology The output amplifier used in the
Elex-R, Elicit-R and Brio-R was born after extensive research by our engineers
to develop a low source impedance emitter follower Class-A driver stage. This is
based around a complementary pair of 150w Sanken Darlington output transistors.
The technical and sonic improvement gained by the use of low impedance drivers
is well known, however, it can feature high standing currents in the driver
stage when using standard transistor configurations. By combining the low
impedance driver with the Sanken Darlington transistors (with their imbedded
thermal bias network running at a lower standing current) this combination forms
a complementary emitter follower emulating Class-A conditions with good thermal
stability with lower standing. Key features •Rega custom full width case with

Introducing Rega’s flagship integrated amplifier,
the Osiris. The Osiris is the culmination of 32 years’ experience in solid-state
amplifier development. A no compromise, super high performance, 162 Watts into 8
Ohms (250 Watt 4 Ohms), dual mono amplifier housed in a custom Rega CNC machined
aluminium case. Designed around "minimalist" high gain power amplifier and
"passive pre-amplifier" circuit topology, a passive volume control and a single
stage of power amplification between the input and the speakers, the Osiris
offers unrivalled performance and build quality. All these features combine to
create the supreme level of performance found in the Osiris and provide a
perfect partner for our Isis CD player. We hope that you enjoy this product as
much as we have enjoyed creating it. Technology The Osiris uses a low
distortion high linearity and a bandwidth common base voltage amplifier driver
stage. This type of symmetrical circuit topology will provide the necessary
voltage swings to enable the Osiris to drive any speaker system with the minimum
of distortion. Eight Sanken 200 Watt output transistors are used in a "triple"
high current output stage enabling the Osiris to drive even the most awkward of
speaker systems with ease. The cascoded differential input amplifier uses two
low noise LED referenced current generators. The open & closed loop feedback
levels and gain bandwidth product components are optimised to give a tight and
controlled sound stage, especially at the low frequency end of the audio range.
Nichicon audio grade capacitors are used in bypass and de-coupling positions.
Electrolytic capacitors have been bypassed with polyester capacitors where
necessary, improving on the HF performance. Low inductance film SM power
resistors are used in the output stage. Power Supply The Osiris uses two low
noise, purpose designed 400VA toroidal transformers using high-grade, fully
bonded core material. The transformers are mounted to the chassis using Rega's
innovative mounting technique which eliminates noise being transferred from the
transformer to the case when the transformers are operating under arduous mains
(line) conditions with high levels of asymmetric mains (line) distortion. These
transformers combined with 40,000 Micro Farads of Rega K-Power smoothing
capacitors per channel, provide more than enough current to drive the hardest of
loads. All the power supplies utilise fast recovery rectifier diodes throughout.
(Fast diodes generate less high frequency switching noise therefore giving rise
to a cleaner DC).The input and low-level driver stages are fed from a regulated
symmetrical tracking power supply with a low noise voltage reference, which
provides a fully stabilised low noise voltage, ensuring the highest level of
sonic purity. All the dedicated audio power supplies feed only the audio
circuits. The input switching, display & micro controller and protection
circuits have their own dedicated supplies, keeping the audio signal path as
pure as possible. •Thermal cut out•Electronic thermal DC protection•Short

The Apollo-R is the result of many years of
innovation, advanced software development and elegant engineering solutions
researched by our highly skilled team of engineers and designers. It took the
completion of two of our multi award winning products, the flagship Isis CD
player and the Rega DAC, to pave the way for a unique product we feel
encapsulates everything the new Apollo-R should be.Design history The original
Apollo CD player launched in 2005. It was a huge success selling almost 20,000
units worldwide. The Apollo was a unique player featuring Rega’s own software
and control system ensuring no other manufacturers player could sound the same.
This key element is carried forward and improved into Apollo-R. Analogue &
digital outputs Development of the analogue, digital and control domains ensured
direct improvements of both analogue and digital outputs making the Apollo-R a
perfect partner for the Rega Brio-R amplifier and an ideal ‘CD format’ front-end
for the Rega DAC. The Apollo-R internal circuitry has also been improved by
tightening the PCB layout. Compact case design Apollo-R is a top loading design
housed in a custom, compact aluminium case matching the Rega DAC and Brio-R
amplifier. Dedicated CD mini system remote controlA new dedicated CD remote
handset is supplied as standard which also has the advantage of Rega amplifier
functionality . Digital to analogue conversionThe DAC and the output amplifier
of the Apollo-R have been enhanced using the Wolfson WM8742 digital to analogue
converter, the same integrated circuit found in the Rega DAC.Power supplies The
‘digital’ power supplies feeding the CD processor, optical block, laser diode
amplifier and slicer have been enhanced. This is achieved by using the same high
performance, low noise power supplies found in the same location within the Isis
CD player. This vastly improves the playability, error correction and the ‘inner
core’ processing of the digital CD ‘spinner’ part of the Apollo-R.Output
amplifierThe discrete output amplifier has been tweaked to reduce the overall
THD from typically 0.005% to 0.0025%, whilst at the same time improving the
overall sound quality of the output amplifier.User interface We have improved
the user interface control by using a dedicated display micro-processor, which

Isis Reference Rega’s flagship CD player, the
Isis,is a product manufactured to the highest achievable quality inside and out
including Rega's own unique CD technology, genuine black chrome lid and front
facia and a custom solid anodised aluminium case weighing in at a notable 19kg!
We hope you enjoy this very special CD player; we have spent a very long time
creating it, drawing on our many years of experience in specialist hi-fi
manufacturing.Technology behind the design of the Isis One important design goal
was to take the current output, with no internal amplification within the D to A
converter, and convert this to an analogue voltage, using discrete class A
operational amplifiers and filters. This circuit can then be optimised for sonic
performance. (With most CD players the use of standard operational integrated
circuits locks you into the sound of those particular integrated circuits, thus
narrowing the scope for improvement). The class A current to voltage conversion
amplifier, evolved out of the development of the first stage of the Rega Ios MC
amplifier. It shares identical demands of low noise, high drive capability and
gain bandwidth required of the voltage to current amplifier. Careful choice has
been made for every component in the digital and the analogue signal path to
ensure the integrity of the signal. The analogue and digital sections are bonded
together using a substantial ground plane. It was found during the development
of the player that adoption of RF ground plane techniques aided the sonic
quality and therefore was included in the final design. Careful design of the
PCB's ensures isolation of not just the digital and analogue sections, but also
the motor, display and user interface processor. All sonically critical
electrolytic capacitors have been by-passed with polypropylene or polyester film
capacitors. In addition to this, large value electrolytic capacitors have also
been by-passed with audio grade electrolytic capacitors. Power supply impedances
in the digital to analogue converter are kept very low by the use of solid
polymer capacitors. All power supplies utilise custom Rega K-Power smoothing
capacitors, along with fast diodes which have been used throughout in power
supply rectification. The Isis uses enhanced and optimised control code for the
control of the CD processor and user display. This speeds up the initialisation
process by means of a tighter control interface between the user micro and CD
processor. Analogue section The analogue section employs two Burr Brown PCM1794
digital to analogue converters, running in a parallel dual mono mode, driving a
high performance discrete class A current to voltage amplifier. This combination
generates an exceptionally wide dynamic range, low distortion, and linear signal.
This drives an enhanced discrete Class A output amplifier. The circuit is fully
balanced from the digital to analogue converters to the balanced analogue XLR
outputs. The analogue stage has its own dedicated 50VA mains transformer which
ensures galvanic isolation between the digital and analogue sections of the
player. You will find 10 separate power supply regulators are used in the
analogue circuit and each individual amplifier stage has its own dedicated low
noise voltage reference. Digital section The digital section is blue printed and
selected, with major improvements to the mechanism, optical amplifier, DSP core,
PLL, master clock & motor power supplies. Another 10 separate power supply
regulators are used in the digital circuit. The motor, user interface processor
& display also have their own power supply. The digital stage also has its own
50VA transformer again ensuring galvanic isolation. The mechanism is graded and
matched to the servo circuits, to ensure the servo and optical amplifiers are
working at their optimum point, improving error correction and playability. The
headroom of the optical amplifier has been improved by 10% by increasing the
voltage in the power supply. Digital This revolutionary player has been five
years in design. Rega, together with its design partners have pioneered a highly
advanced servo controller that uses the latest signal processing techniques to
ensure that the raw data that is recovered from the disc is of the very highest
quality. Because our fully digital servo can use highly advanced algorithms, the
laser spot is kept in the optimum position for data recovery in terms of focus,
size and tracking.Extra Error Correction Previous chip-sets always made
compromises on error correction. Formerly it was possible to have good jog
resistance or better musical performance. The Rega chip-set allows optimum
musical performance and optimised jog /vibration resistance. Super-stable phase
lock loop The entire IC is clocked via a very special PLL of our own design.
This allows better CD data recovery as well as a big improvement in the quality
of the data delivered to the DAC. Low noise digital design In the design of our
CPU IC, we went to great lengths to ensure that the data and address bus noise
was kept to an absolute minimum. This ensures the ground and signal connections
to the DAC are as 'clean' as is possible. USB Input Allowing direct connection
to a laptop or PC via a USB A-B lead to stream internet radio, MP3 or WMA files
directly from your computer via the high quality Isis internal DAC. The USB
input uses an isolated double-clocked USB interface, which permits the digital
to analogue stage to be used with a computer USB interface and its own regulated
power supply. The USB benefits once again from galvanic isolation from the main
circuitry of the Isis player which eliminates the flow of earth currents between
the CD and host computer, and eliminate computer power supply noise. Disc
Analysis The Isis will analyse each disc on an individual basis. During the
initialising period (rather like the engine management system on a modern car
which optimises the engine settings to temperature, fuel quality etc.), the Isis
will adjust itself to each disc in order to give optimal trouble free reading.
For this reason the Isis will often play discs with marks or scratches that
other players cannot read. We hope that you enjoy this product as much as we
have enjoyed creating it. •Discrete Class A operational amplifiers and filters

lettore CD a valvole con telecomando
Rega's now legendary head electronics
engineer Terry Bateman spent 10 years researching the concept of a
CD player using valves in the output amplifier. Valves have been
widely used in musical instrument and recording amplification from
the 1950's to the present day, therefore it made great sense to
develop a valve based CD player to match that of the signal chain
found in such applications. This approach kept the circuit
straightforward. This is mainly because musical instrument
amplification is not excessively hindered by some of the folklore
surrounding certain aspects of valve audio design. He took the
approach of combining the technical and sonic attributes of valves
in a differential instrumentation amplifier circuit driven from
differential output DAC with a passive LC filterThe valve Isis shares the
same digital and USB sections as found in the solid state
version, however, the analogue stage is valve based with
passive filtering. This stage uses two military
specification triple mica 5814A (ECC82/12AU7) triodes being
driven by the revolutionary Wolfson WM8741 ultra high
performance digital to analogue converter. The output buffer
and transformer driver stage uses two ECC88 (6DJ8/6922)
triodes. This, like its solid-state stable mate, is of
an un-orthodox design. The design goal with this player
was to keep away from the normal design approach of "let’s
run it through a valve to make it sound warm", but take
advantage of industrial valve circuits to make an
articulate and competent valve based CD player. Careful
choice has been made for every component in the digital
and the analogue signal path to ensure the integrity of
the signal.Careful design of the PCB's ensures isolation
of not just the digital and analogue sections, but also
the motor, display and user interface processor. All
sonically critical electrolytic capacitors have been
by-passed with polypropylene or polyester film
capacitors. In addition to this, large value electrolytic
capacitors have also been by-passed with audio grade
electrolytic capacitors. Power supply impedances in the
digital to analogue converter are kept very low by the
use of solid polymer capacitors. All power supplies
utilise custom Rega K-Power smoothing capacitors, and
fast diodes have been used throughout in power supply
rectification. The Isis uses enhanced and optimised
control code for the control of the CD processor and
user display; this will speed up the initialisation
process by means of a tighter control interface between
the user micro and CD processor.TechnologyThe
differential output of the digital to analogue converter
drives a valve differential (operational) amplifier,
with a very modest amount of feedback to stabilise the
operating conditions. The 5814A based differential
amplifier, with a solid-state current generator in its
tail, takes full advantage of the differential output
from the digital to analogue converter. This is followed
by a passive Butterworth second order LC filter. Finally,
this signal is buffered using a low anode resistance
ECC88 triode to drive the output and balancing
transformer. In design it was felt that unnecessarily
high levels of THD would unduly overwhelm the qualities
of the digital stage of the Isis. The overall THD is
typically 0.06% being prominently even order, where the
2nd harmonic predominates. This will give the sonic
dynamics of the valves without dominating the sonic
qualities of the digital section. After many hours of
tube rolling we found the 5814A differential amplifier
position was best on the grounds of micro-phonics,
reliable operation and sonic qualities. Both the HT & LT
power supplies are fully regulated and use the same
power supply parts as used in the solid state Isis. Like
the solid-state analogue stage, the Valve Isis has its
own dedicated 50VA mains transformer, ensuring galvanic
isolation between the digital and analogue sections of
the player. The Isis has an isolated balanced output, and
in keeping with the spirit of the valve circuit topology
we have opted to use a transformer in this position.
This balancing transformer is made to the same exacting
standards of that found in the Ios MC amplifier. We hope

hope you enjoy this Rega product for many years to come. The optical and coaxial
input stage comprises a Wolfson digital receiver with a high stability, low
jitter clock driving the receiver PLL. The receiver and PLL have their own
dedicated power supplies. The DAC stage comprises a pair of parallel-connected
Wolfson WM8742 DAC’s, that are driven via a buffer stage, which ensures the
integrity of the data being fed to the DAC IC’s similar to the arrangement used
in the Isis reference CDP. The USB input stage is comprised of a bit perfect
XMOS USB Audio 2.0 with asynchronous clocking. The USB input stage feeds the
Optical and Coaxial input stage via an isolating transformer giving total
isolation from the host computer. The output amplifier employs a discrete
differential, multiple feedback filter and output amplifier, with a high cut-off
frequency for use with higher sample rates. We decided not to use a sample rate
converter and process the data at the incoming sample rate which keeps the
signal processing to a minimum. Jitter was minimised by synchronously clocking
the digital data with our receiver PLL (removing any jitter from the input
signal). All the capacitors associated with the analogue signal path are audio
grade bypassed with MMK polyester capacitors, and low impedance conductive
polymer capacitors are used for DAC decoupling. The power supply utilizes a
toroidal transformer, fast rectifier diodes and again audio grade capacitors.
There is a power supply for the control micro controller, separate from the
digital & analogue audio stages. Special attention being paid to the inter IC
control signals ensures the control data noise is kept to a minimum. DAC 2x

Design Housed within our latest half width custom
designed case are two entirely separate, high performance phono stages. One
fully adjustable, dedicated moving coil and one moving magnet. Each stage is
designed and engineered to maximise the potential of your vinyl system whilst
remaining easy to use and set up. Technology The Aria is an "all analogue
amplifier" with no digital control circuitry. The fully aluminium case screens
the internal circuit from any stray RFI signals. Our designers have avoided
including any superfluous gadgets as they obstruct the signal path and degrade
the sound quality. The Aria incorporates many innovative design ideas including
a self-adjusting servo control to keep the MC input circuit at its optimum,
compensating for any variations in ambient or operating temperature. Both stages
have their own separate input sockets and input pre-amplifier circuitry. This
enabled us to design bespoke input circuitry for each cartridge type without
compromise. Signal switching is performed at high level and low impedance (via
relays) ensuring there is no degradation of the signal. MC Stage Design &
Features The MC input uses parallel connected, low noise FET's (Field Effect
Transistor's) configured as a compound pair. The use of FET transistors ensures
there is no bias current flowing in the cartridge coil so as not to upset the
delicate magnetic geometry of the cartridge. The MC input has the provision for
selecting resistive input loading of 70W to 400W and capacitive loading of
1000pF to 4200pF. The input sensitivity can be changed by 6dB via the back
panel. MM Stage design & features The MM input uses low noise, bipolar input
transistors also configured as a compound pair. There are two separate power
supplies for each channel and further sub-power supplies for each of the low
noise input circuits. Nichicon FG electrolytic capacitors have been used in
critical positions throughout the power supplies. Polypropylene capacitors have
been used in the signal path and equalization networks. Discrete circuitry is
used throughout the signal path ensuring full control of the circuit design.

transformer which can be optimised to the cartridge by the selection of the
correct loading and Zobel DC resistance correction network connected across the
MC transformer secondary. The second stage is a symmetrical, compound pair class
A amplifier, using paralleled low noise Hitachi transistors in the input stage.
This drives the passive high frequency part of the RIAA (Record Industry
Association of America) equalization stage. The third stage is a symmetrical
class ‘A’ differential amplifier with a common base driver stage; this is also
used as the active amplifier in the low frequency part of the RIAA equalization
stage. The fourth stage is the active filter. This configuration uses the same
circuit as found in the second stage. The filter element uses a very high
bandwidth operational amplifier. The power supply is a symmetrical, discrete
tracking power supply using fast diodes and a low noise voltage reference. Each
stage has its own localised power supply and LED referenced current generators.
Very high quality polypropylene capacitors have been used in the signal path. 1%

winning, small floor standing, loudspeaker model. However there is
nothing entry level about its performance. 70mm taller than its
predecessor, it now has improved bass response and makes great use
of our new ZRR tweeter technology. The RS3 is an exceptionally
technical loudspeaker, using a three driver system. It offers
extraordinarily accurate low frequency and a very even mid-range
with extended, high quality, treble performance. These attributes
set the RS3 apart from the competition, producing an extremely
versatile, dynamic and musical sound.Every Rega bass and bass/mid
unit is hand assembled, in house, to our exact specifications. This
gives us enormous flexibility in design and ensures Rega speakers
produce a unique sound compared to OEM drivers purchased 'off the
shelf '. The RS3 loudspeaker uses Rega's classic RR125 mid-range
drive unit, housed in a sealed section. This offers excellent
control of driver resonances, resulting in a smooth mid-range
response. The RS3 also benefits from a side firing 5" driver which
utilises an 8 layer voice coil. This voice coil design allows us to
eradicate any crossover components for this driver. The bass
seamlessly integrates with the mid-range unit and with exceptional
timing. This is without compromising any of the mid-range and treble
performance which Rega is renowned for.High Frequency Unit The RS3
uses our new HF20-ZRR high frequency unit which is uniquely designed
by Rega. By removing unwanted rear reflection, the design of the ZRR
tweeter helps maintain a distortion free response.Sound and
Set-UpThe drive units in the RS3 have been designed with great care.
The crossover needs no additional filter networks to work with the
drive units. Unlike most manufacturers who boast about the
complexity of their crossovers, Rega are proud of the simplicity of
theirs. Rega believes that bi-wiring will offer no advantage to the
crossover, however bi-amping will. The RS3 also has a front firing
port allowing them to be placed against a wall, without bass lift,
if required. The RS3 side firing system gives easy positioning of
the loudspeakers in most rooms. However, depending on the room
environments, this system can offer improved sound stage/dynamics
and also allows the RS range of speakers to cope well in difficult
rooms.Read more about Rega's Bass Resonance Technology here...Cabinet
DesignWith emphasis on sound quality, the real wood veneer
complements the overall construction of this high quality cabinet.
It has sleek and subtle appearance presenting a modern stylish and
affordable design. The loudspeaker uses a 'comb' filter in the lower
section of the cabinet to smooth out and improve tonal balance of
the low end bass response. It also helps with bracing the cabinet.
Rega has worked hard on achieving a dynamic, stylish and most of all
enjoyable loudspeaker. We think you will agree that, when you

RS10 Loudspeaker The Rega RS-10’s have been
designed to integrate perfectly into any system. Initially designed to complete
our reference range, the RS10’s provide the perfect partner for the Isis CD
player, Osiris amplifier and RP10 turntable. The RS-10 loudspeaker system offers
the user the ability to adjust its performance to suit different locations via
our ‘environment match’ adjustment feature. We have pioneered the integration of
a BMR unit with the unique Rega ‘dual driver bass system’ and a completely new
and exclusive Rega designed tweeter to create a very special and unique
loudspeaker which offers unparalleled levels of control balance and dynamicsThe
RS-10 loudspeaker uses a BMR (Balance Mode Radiator) to handle the majority of
the audible music spectrum. The BMR design concept was conceived as a full range
driver handling all musical frequencies from bass through to treble with a
single driver and no crossover. This concept works remarkably well and produces
a musical transparency normally associated with electrostatic loudspeakers.
However no concept is perfect and a single BMR can only produce limited bass
output and some people may prefer more precise musical images. Most loudspeaker
systems have a crossover point for the mid-range driver and tweeter between 2
KHz and 3 KHz. This can upset the vocal region with distortion and phase shift.
It is also where the human ear is most sensitive. Therefore with use of the BMR
unit, Rega has been able to design a crossover point above the most critical
range. The high frequency capability of the BMR, has allowed the two units to
integrate to 6 KHz. This gives massive improvements in sound quality with
greater clarity and detail in the music. Rega has pioneered the integration of a
BMR with the unique Rega dual driver bass system and a completely new and unique
Rega designed and UK manufactured tweeter. The high frequency sound of a BMR is
so good that the quality level of any normal tweeter will not combine with it.
This is why Rega felt compelled to design a new and unique tweeter that would
complement the BMR unit. This new tweeter, the ZRR-10, uses Rega’s ZRR (Zero
Rear Reflection) technology combined with an unparalleled production technique
that allows the silk dome to be assembled directly onto the front plate thus
eliminating a major source of unwanted vibration. Each tweeter is meticulously
hand assembled at Rega’s factory in the UK and incorporates a copper Faraday
ring which extends the frequency response of the tweeter up to 23KHz by lowering
inductance of the voice coil. Read about Rega's ZRR HF Unit Technology here...
For bass frequencies, the RS-10 uses two separate bass drivers connected in
parallel. The drivers are different sizes, have different resonant frequencies
and operate with individually separate cabinet loadings. A 200mm driver with a
lightweight paper cone, 8 layer voice coil and a resonant frequency of 40Hz
operates in a transmission line with port output extending below audibility
coupled with a 125mm driver also with a lightweight paper cone, 8 layer voice
coil and resonant frequency of 75Hz which is loaded by a small sealed cabinet. This
system eliminates the normal single bass resonance by spreading smaller
resonances across the entire bass frequency band and incorporates a degree of
self-damping due to the parallel connection with the amplifier. The result is a
much tighter and more tuneful bass register which can be adjusted in level to
suit room characteristics. The loudspeaker can also be moved closer to or
further from a wall resulting in an increase or decrease of low frequency to
suit personal preference Crossover: Multiple high voltage parallel

PSUImportant: The TT PSU can only be used with the P3-24, P5 and P7
turntables. It is not compatible with any other Rega or manufacturers
turntables. The all new TT PSU and motor anti-vibration circuit is a
combination of the innovative P9 power supply along with an improved P25
anti-vibration motor drive feeding the P9 24V AC synchronous motor. The
TT PSU uses a remote "wall wart" transformer therefore keeping the
sources of hum & noise well away from sensitive parts such as the
cartridge and phono leads. The compact TT PSU uses exactly the same high
stability crystal locked low distortion sine wave generator as is used
in the heart of the P9 power supply. This, along with an efficient drive
amplifier fed from stabilised DC power supply, generates a 24Volt AC
balanced signal of less than 0.05% distortion, which is completely
unaffected by any changes in the mains/line voltage and conditions. This
then drives the turntables anti-vibration circuit, which is situated
beneath the turntable. The drive voltage for the motor is run along the
power lead to the turntable motor, which also carries the 33/45-RPM DC
relay control voltage used to
