Argon³Argon3 follows on the footsteps of Argon2 and Argon2 Anniversary, which have collected numerous praises world over from satisfied customers and nitpicking reviewers alike.An Integrator tweeter, which was developed for the Krypton2 is crossed over at breathtakingly low 1200 Hz. Having the crossover point well under the area where human hearing is most precise allows the tweeter and woofer to integrate perfectly. All tweeters of Argon3 is tested by human ear for any anomalities before assembly.Newly designed waveguide improves resolution, extention and energy dispersion of the speaker tremendously. Argon3 has stiff and light aluminium cone, which leads to great bass performance out of relatively modest sized box. Argon3 L is the floorstander based on the Argon² Anniversary. The design goal of Argon3L was to keep the praised midrange resolution while improving the bass extention with the bigger box. The increased volume allows extending the bass perfomance from 40 Hz in Argon2 Anniversary and Argon3 to31 Hz in Argon3L.The aim was to add weight, but no bloat and therefore Argon3L has a very solid and heavy enclosure, which weighs almost twice that of similar sized and priced competitive products.The target was achieved well, as Paul Messenger noted in this review for Hifi Choice: "it is something for a bodus adding weight and scale rather than unwanted thickening or thump". At t the heart of Prio 620 high-performance speaker lies the proriatory innovative driver configuration TAPS, which creates a time coherent point source and allows seamless integration of the different drivers. The titanium domed high frequency driver developed for the Krypton2 project - the Integrator - extends down to 1200 Hz. It is flanked by two 6.5-inch SEAS paper-papyruss midwoofers – in Amphion’s Time Accurate Point Source System (TAPS) configuration – a set-up that gives incredible timing accuracy and unrivalled musicality.Due to high demands which using such low crossover point puts on the tweeter all tweeters used in Prio 620 are inspected for distortion or any other anomalities both before and after assembly by our trained staff by listening to various test signals. (internally this is referred to as "vinguttaminen" i.e. screeching and it is not the most pleasent part of making a loudspeaker nor something our workers particularly enjoy. But as we have not found any suitable technical devices, which would come even close to the trained ears of our staff it is needed to make sure that every tweeter meets our stringent criteria.)The high level resolution, air, purity and seamless midrange integration were the design goals for Prio 620. Matthias Böde, the Chief Editor from Stereo magazine in Germany compared Prio 620´s clarity and purity to that of Finnish lake. I am not certain if Mr. Böde knows this, but during the summer months spent on their summer houses many people rely lakes as their only source of all water related needs, including drinking.Let´s hope Prios midrange purity offers a glimpse of how refreshing cool lake water feels in the middle of the night, when the sounds of the day have faded away, but the sun is still shining... Krypton is Amphion´s reference project now well over 10 years in making. The Krypton2 is highly innovative three-way reference speaker, which makes it possible to enjoy full range, realistic level orchestral performances without owning a concert hall.Krypton2s propriatory paper -papyrus 8" midrange is actually many drivers in one and due to carefull driver placement together with the tweeter forms a perfect time accurate point source which works from 160 Hz up. Inside the critical 600-2000 Hz the cone´s "ribs" transform the unit to work similarly to 4", which leads to air and nuances, but will take full advantage of low distortion and high power handling of the 8" units. The midrange clarity coupled with the power which can be achieved by kryptons two 8" units working in unison makes you wonder how you ever could live with the 6.5" other manfacturers offer at this price point Krypton2s work perfectly well even in smaller rooms due to having controlled dispersion and highly innovative cardioid midrange, which makes the speaker less sensitive to walls or other boundaries.
